Viktor Orbán was the first to back Trump in 2016, but his support didn’t really pay off until 2020. The Hungarian PM stuck with Trump even though he wasn’t reelected, thus becoming one of his most important European contacts for this year’s US presidential campaign. Orbán’s persistence has paid off several times before, and it’s not unlikely to bear fruit once again.
