A tüntetést az után szervezték meg, hogy az izraeli vezetés és a Hamász is bizakodó nyilatkozatokat adott ki egy lehetséges újabb tűzszüneti megállapodásról. Nem tisztázott, hogy a felek a Katar által javasolt hatvannapos tűzszünetre gondolnak-e.
