Az izraeli erők szerint a síita Hezbollah ismét támadást tervezett, ezért kellett a sűrűn lakott bejrúti elővárosban elrejtett földalatti üzem ellen rakétákat indítani. Libanon a novemberi tűzszünet megsértéseként értékelte az akciót.
