Izrael péntek hajnalban kezdett, aprólékosan megtervezett hadműveletében a hadsereg, a légierő és a forradalmi gárda vezetését is lefejezte, és több atomtudóst is megölt. A nukleáris létesítmények mellett a légvédelmet és az ellencsapásra használható rakétaarzenált is támadták. Irán péntek este rakétacsapással válaszolt.
