Tíz perc után hátrányba került a magyar futballválogatott a törökök ellen, de Schäfer egyenlített. A második félidőben aztán pár perc alatt két gólt lőtt a hazai csapat, és hiába volt a magyaroknak sok helyzete, már nem is változott az eredmény.
