A több mint hatvan éve létező díjat szakújságírókból álló zsűri ítéli oda, de a szavazást megelőző tesztek nem sokat árulnak el arról, hogy a győztes autótípusokkal mennyire lesznek elégedettek a vevők, illetve hányszor kell hozzájuk autómentőt hívni.
