A drogcsempészettel párhuzamosan a korrupció terjedése is egyre nagyobb aggodalomra ad okot Németországban. Csak az Európa legnagyobb kokainfogásáról is elhíresült hamburgi kikötőben lefoglalt szállítmányok száma ötszáz százalékkal emelkedett egy év alatt. Egy hamburgi ügyész pedig vádemelés helyett a csempészekkel játszott össze.
